When you feel that way, your actions will reflect it, maybe you procrastinate, avoid opportunities, or sabotage your progress without even realising it.
On the other hand, if you hold a belief like “I am worthy of success,” your thoughts will align with confidence, optimism, and motivation. This mindset leads to feelings of empowerment and positivity, which in turn drive actions that support your success, whether that’s taking bold steps toward a goal, seeking opportunities, or staying committed to your personal growth.
Shifting Negative Thinking Patterns: Practical Exercises

Identify Limiting Beliefs
Start by identifying the beliefs that are holding you back. These are often unconscious and can show up as recurring negative thoughts. Write them down, be honest with yourself. Or simply just notice them when you speck, acknowledging them is the first step toward change.Challenge Your Beliefs
Ask yourself: “Is this belief truly serving me?” “Where did this belief come from?” Consider if there is evidence that contradicts this belief. For example, if you believe you're not good enough, challenge that with past successes, compliments, or examples of your skills.Replace Limiting Beliefs with Empowering Ones

Take a few moments each day to visualise yourself succeeding in your goals. Picture the positive feelings you would experience, the words you are using and the actions you would take. This helps train your brain to recognise success as possible.Practice Gratitude
Gratitude is a powerful tool in shifting your mindset. It helps you focus on what’s working in your life and shifts your focus away from negativity. Start a gratitude journal and write down three things you’re thankful for each day. Turning Trauma Into Stepping Stones: A Personal Story
I’d like to share something personal. In 2024, I faced a life-changing health challenge, heart complications caused by a blood infection that required open-heart surgery. In those moments, it felt like everything I knew was turned upside down. But in hindsight, I can see how this experience has reshaped my entire path.
At first, it seemed like an obstacle, something that had derailed my life and my goals. The pain, the fear, and the uncertainty were massive and overwhelming. But over time, I realised that this traumatic event didn’t have to be a roadblock. In fact, it became a stepping stone that led me to a deeper understanding of resilience, the importance of self-coaching, and how much power we have over our own healing.
Instead of allowing this event to define me as a victim, I chose to view it as a catalyst, a way to recalibrate my life and realign with what truly mattered. I used this experience to reaffirm my passion for coaching, enabling me to serve others more deeply by incorporating the lessons I learned about the mind-body connection, strength, and self-compassion. It also highlighted areas I am deeply passionate about, motivating me to support long-overdue campaigns and changes within y local community.
This experience reshaped not just my career, but my personal belief system. It confirmed that challenges are not “obstacles” they are “opportunities for growth.” It’s this mindset shift that I now share with my clients: What seems like a detour can often lead you to exactly where you need to be and sometimes even better than you imagined.
